The Power of Words

One of the most important skills for success is the ability to communicate.  It is your use of words that motivate, encourage, convince and move people to action.  Through adept communication, you directly affect the listener and thus their actions.

The true power of words lies in their meaning to the listener.  More than simple conversation, words have the power to influence a person’s thinking, perception and their behavior.  Know that, “The proper words delivered with emotion, at the appropriate time, can move people to take action”.  A good speaker can read the listener’s response and then alter their delivery to guide them.

Engage your audience with intriguing questions and get into their world.  Acknowledge their contributions and show your appreciation.  By choosing your words carefully, you can generate their curiosity.

This causes them to ask questions, thus placing them in the conversation on a personal level.  It is of the utmost importance for you to LISTEN!  Through their questions, they are giving you the keys to their concerns and revels a path to their growth.  Practice kindness, listen to them, learn of their needs, offer a solution and lead them on the path to growth.

The ability to use the art of conversation to persuade the listener to see your point of view, increases the chance of success.  The skill to deliver information and persuade opinion is essential for business relationships.  Once the listener believes your message, then you can deliver closing words of action.  In other words, “close the deal”.

Words can be so dynamic, especially during communication.  They can be very powerful for you especially when selling, presenting and giving or receiving instructions.  It all boils down to your confidence in communicating.
